Volunteers are fundamental to many departments/services at both sites of Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA). For example, volunteers assist in Emergency, Physiotherapy, the Resource Centre, the Business Office, Meals on Wheels, the Cafeteria, Adult Day Centre, Switchboard, and Gift Shop. Volunteers continuously contribute to the quality of care provided. MHA also welcomes young people who would like to help out through the "Volun-Teen" program. Any amount of time that you can contribute as a volunteer is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering at MHA, please contact Judy Peters 519-245-5295 Ext. 5539 to fill out an application and arrange an interview. MHA is pleased to provide co-operative student placements for both college and high school students.
Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) is fortunate is have a large number of caring and dedicated volunteers to help make your hospital experience more pleasant for you and your family. Our volunteers offer a wide variety of services: portering, providing direction at the Information Desk and providing ice water/snacks to patients, to name a few. SMGH volunteers can be easily identified by the burgundy smocks and ID badges that they wear. SMGH volunteers can be found at the Information Desk located in the front lobby of the hospital.
The SMGH Auxiliary was founded in 1914 when the hospital opened. At that time members donated fruit, vegetables, preserves and eggs to the kitchen. The big event each year was the July 1st "Tea" the auxiliary hosted on the front lawn of the hospital.
In 2001 the Auxiliary membership has grown to over 100 members. The auxiliary raises money by operating the Gift Shop, an annual Tag Day in May, Holiday Bake Sales, selling HELPP tickets, Tiutia fashion days, Tonnie Tubs and Raffles. Members also drive for Meals on Wheels.
Four Counties Health Services is fortunate to have a group of caring volunteers who are dedicated to helping make the hospital experience a more positive one for patients and their families. Volunteers assist in the Emergency Department, Ambulatory Care, Health Records, Physiotherapy, Gift Shop, Adult Day Program, Diabetes Education Centre and Nutrition & Food Services. Volunteers are identified by their name badges and their burgundy smocks.
The Four Counties Health Services Auxiliary has been part an important part of our health care organization for the past 40 years. Formed even before the sod was turned at the Four Counties site, the Auxiliary has been and continues to be a driving force within this organization - from furnishing the first heart monitor room in 1974 to the donation of funds for specialized medical equipment.
Running the gift shop is one of the main roles of the Auxiliary. Other fundraising events like bazaars, tickets sales and foundation projects assist the hospital to provide quality health care.
