The Family Practice Obstetrics Clinic is located in the new Ambulatory Care Centre. The birth facilities at SMGH include family-centred birthing rooms, a labour room and a whirlpool tub. There is also telemetry equipment that allows a woman in labour to walk around while being monitored. Obstetrician Dr. Robert DiCecco of St. Joseph's Health Centre provides consultation, education and some obstetrical coverage. Additionally, a lactation consultant is available, and a public health nurse visits with new mothers before they leave.
