The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is governed by a single board of directors, since Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital and Four Counties Health Services formed an Alliance in September 1, 1999. Directors on the board are recruited from our community and serve no more than three, three year terms.
Cheryl Waters - Cheryl Waters is the Board Chair of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance. Cheryl is a very experienced board member, having served 19 years on the SMGH Auxiliary, 6 years SMGH Foundation, 10.5 years on the MHA Board of Directors, including the first year of the MHA Alliance. Cheryl is a very active member in the community.
Ralph Coe - Mr. Coe brings over 25 years of public service in the resource management field and 20 years of volunteer Board experience at all levels of government. Ralph is employed by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority as General Manager/ Secretary Treasurer and he is the Executive Director of their Foundation. Ralph also has extensive experience in strategic planning where he has overseen decision making, planning, policy and program development during his various appointments. He is past Chair of the Chamber of Commerce and Middlesex Community Living. He is also on the Management Committee for Conservation Ontario, and he also holds several other appointments. He is the recipient of the Governor General Canada Award, Canada 125 Medal. Ralph has previously served as Board Chair.
Ineke Haan - Ineke Haan is the Human Resource Manager at Bonduelle - Strathroy, a processor and distributor of quality frozen vegetables to the world market. Joining the Middlesex Hospital Alliance Board as a Director in 2004, Ineke has previously served the MHA as Board Chair and is currently the Chair of the Governance Committee. She brings to this role numerous years of corporate governance, policy, and strategic planning experience from her Board and Committee involvement on the Chamber, Credit Union, Commodity Organizations, Human Resource and Health & Safety Groups. Complementing her diversified background, Ineke holds a Certified Management Accountant designation. As a resident and businessperson of Strathroy for over 20 years, she values the hospital as the 'heart' of a vibrant community!
Dr. Peter Kleinstiver - Dr. Kleinstiver is a Doctor of Philosophy (Pharmacology & Toxicology). Dr. Kleinstiver has many years of experience in healthcare and medical research. He is currently the President of Katalyst Professional Services Inc., a provider of health care consulting. Peter joined the MHA Board of Directors in 2008 and currently holds the position of Vice Chair.
Mr. Ken Williams - Mr. Williams is a Chartered Accountant and partner at Woods Pearson & Associates, LLP. Mr. Williams has extensive consulting experience both in Canada and the United States in business planning, corporate re-organization and restructuring and change management in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Williams joined the MHA Board of Directors in 2009 and currently is the Chair of the Finance Committee.
Mr. Drew Peddie - Mr. Peddie has been a Pharmacist since 1997, working in pharmacies across the Country since that time. Currently he is the owner/pharmacist at the Strathroy Shoppers Drug Mart. Mr. Peddie has been a member of several committees and boards throughout his career, joining the MHA Board as a Director in 2009. Drew is currently Chair of the Board Quality Committee.
Dawn Butler - Dawn Butler is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Highstreet Asset Management Inc. She is a former member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Board in London. Dawn is a Chartered Accountant.
Jane Zoeger - Jane Zoeger has extensive experience working with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. She currently holds the position of Division Manager (operations) for five long-term homes. Jane is an RN with an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of business. She possesses strong leadership skills and has previous board experience on a not for profit board. Jane is currently the Vice-Chair of the Board Quality Committee.
Frances Ellett - Frances Ellett has had many years of previous healthcare experience, program evaluation and business management with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, The Ontario Ministry of Health, the Community Care Access Centre and Regional Long Term Care. She also has previous board experience, having served as a founding member of the London Community Care Access Centre. Frances holds a Masters in Public Health and has published several publications and made public presentations mainly in long-term care and community health care.
Neil MacLean - Neil MacLean comes to the MHA Board of Directors with a strong background in Ontario's healthcare system at the local, regional/LHIN and provincial levels including the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and in developing collaborative relationships with numerous government-funded organizations including colleges and universities, social services and child and youth. He is currently the Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development with Ontario Telemedicine Network. Neil is experienced in Board Governance practices and has served on two not-for-profit boards, including Chair. He looks forward to serving the MHA as a Director.
Jon Aristone - Jon Aristone is an International Senior Manager in Operations, Marketing and Engineering. Currently he is the Manager of Engineering at Cooper Standard Automotive. Jon brings LEAN expertise to the Board. He is experienced in strategic planning and risk management. Jon has served on several boards including Chair of the Fanshawe College Alumni Association.
Paul Ferner, MD, CCFP - Dr. Ferner started at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) in 1989 and is currently the SMGH Chief of Staff. His areas of expertise include Oncology and Palliative Care. He is also the Medical Coordinator for the Southwest Region for the Ontario Breast Screening Program.
Jon Dreyer, MD - Dr. Dreyer started at Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) in 2002. He is currently Chief of Staff at Four Counties Health Services and former Head of Emergency Medicine at London Health Sciences Centre.
Julie Copeland, MD, CCFP - Dr. Copeland joined the medical staff at the SMGH site in 2005. Dr. Copeland has an active family practice at the Southwest Middlesex Health Centre and provides emergency room coverage at the SMGH site. Dr. Copeland is also an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Copeland is currently the President of the Medical Staff at the SMGH site.
