FULL TIME PATIENT CARE MANAGER
Surgical, Obstetrical Unit

• Flexible 7.5 hour shifts and after hour availability
• Responsible for daily operation of surgical inpatients and obstetrical unit
• Reporting to the VP Clinical Services/CNO

Job Qualifications:
• Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Baccalaureate degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 – 7 years of related clinical experience
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience within healthcare sector
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical inpatients and obstetrics
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with nursing staff, physicians, patients and members of the health care team
• Demonstrate flexibility and ability to initiate change and lead innovation
• Experience managing in a unionized environment
• Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, problem solving, communication, change management and conflict resolution
• Sound knowledge of LEAN strategies and performance metrics
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills
• Computer proficiency
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
• Demonstrated ability to initiative improvement strategies in alignment with organizational strategic priorities
• Excellent attendance record

Responsibilities:
• Coordination of patient care delivery
• Ability to mentor, coach and act as resource for staff
• Complete performance appraisals and provide regular feedback to new orientees and staff
• Accountable for human, fiscal and material resources for areas of responsibility
• Provide leadership and support for the development and implementation of wait time strategy initiatives, surgical efficiencies and MHA strategic priorities
• Establish goals and priorities in alignment with MHA strategic priorities
• Implement and manage quality improvement, lean strategies and patient safety initiatives to ensure excellence in patient care and high levels of patient satisfaction
• Participate in the management of all patient care areas in collaboration with other areas of the organization
• Ensure that clinical practices are consistent with current best practice standards and regulations and are evidence based
• Model and promote the development and expectations of a motivated and a cohesive multi-disciplinary team
• Support educational strategies to enhance professional practice of team members
