SMGH Lab Excels in Recent OLA Accreditation

(Strathroy, ON) –The Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) recently underwent a successful Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) which resulted in an outstanding compliance rate of 98.7%. Reviewers were on site to perform an intense external appraisal of the hospital lab. “We are extremely proud of the dedication to quality demonstrated by our tremendously talented staff, under the leadership of Trish Deruiter. This achievement is exceptional and a true testament to the dedication and commitment of our staff. Results like these don’t simply happen. This is just another example of how our people throughout the hospital routinely excel in delivering excellent care to our patients,” said Todd Stepanuik, President & CEO.

The SMGH laboratory was measured against 476 standards. This level of achievement is remarkable and deserving of recognition. “The entire team worked extremely hard to achieve the four year certification. The achieved results provided confirmation that our staff is committed to the provision of quality diagnostic testing. After all, our patients deserve no less”, stated T. Deruiter, Director of Diagnostic Services.

OLA is an accreditation body operated by the Ontario Medical Association and oversees mandatory accreditation review for all licensed medical laboratories.

“On behalf of the entire MHA family I would like to extend sincere congratulations to all and thank you for the service that you provide,” stated Ken Williams, MHA Board Chair.
