STEGH and MHA Announce Shared Leader Role for Information Technology Services

St. Thomas, ON – The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) and Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) announced today a new shared leader model for providing leadership in Information Technology (IT) services at both organizations. One leader overseeing systems in both corporations will provide synergies for the hospitals, as well as be more cost effective.

Jim Wilson, Director Information Systems  at MHA, has accepted the shared IT leadership role for both STEGH and MHA, effective April 1, 2014.

Mr. Wilson’s work experience includes a long history  with information technology and systems,  and  involvement  in the ongoing development of the regional Electronic Patient Record (EPR). The EPR is a joint project of a group of hospitals in the region that includes STEGH and MHA.

“This shared arrangement is a great solution for us,” says Paul Collins, STEGH President and CEO. “Jim has a great understanding of hospital IT issues, and has the experience, skills and regional perspective that we need. The MHA is a great partner to work with and I appreciate MHA’s willingness to collaborate.”

Todd Stepanuik, MHA President & CEO states, “We know Jim’s abilities and are very pleased that we can share his know-how with STEGH through this agreement. These types of integrated roles are good for our healthcare system. The new joint leadership is an example of MHA’s commitment to collaboration.  Jim is a great leader at MHA and will excel in overseeing the provision of IT leadership and IT innovation at both organizations.”
