Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) is a modern primary acute care hospital. It is located in the Village of Newbury, at the intersection of Lambton, Kent, Middlesex, and Elgin Counties (approximately halfway between London and Chatham). FCHS is located in a peaceful country setting with easy access to the 401 express highway and, the US border into Michigan. The facility provides 24 hour emergency and medical care as well as numerous diagnostic and ambulatory services. Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) serves a population of approximately 35,000 residents. Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital is located approximately 40 km west of the City of London. SMGH is a full service community hospital providing a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, diagnostic and ambulatory car services.

FULL TIME MANAGER
Nutrition and Food Services/Housekeeping, Linen & Laundry Services (NFS/H)

The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is seeking a Nutrition and Food Services / Housekeeping Manager. Reporting to the VP Finance/CFO, the Nutrition and Food Services/Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the planning, delivery, co-ordination and evaluation of the Nutrition and Food Services/ Housekeeping departments within the MHA. The incumbent will provide leadership to both Nutrition and Food Services and Housekeeping to deliver the highest degree of quality, safe, sanitary, and cost- effective services, while following applicable policies, procedures and legislation.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Membership in the Canadian Society of Food and Nutrition Management
• Minimum OHA Certificate Course in Housekeeping required
• OHHA Professional Healthcare Housekeepers Certificate (PHHA) considered an asset
• Current Food Handlers Certificate
• Manager/Supervisor in Healthcare Institution (minimum 5 years)
• Working knowledge of inflection control procedures
• Focused on customer service
• Demonstrated team player; able to lead by example and promote departmental goals in support of the MHA strategic plan
• Skilled at supporting and motivating staff
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, problem solving, communication, change management and conflict resolution
• Sound knowledge of and ability to utilize LEAN and quality improvement strategies
• Strong commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent attendance record
• Valid driver’s license
• Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
• Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 12 months

Responsibilities:

Nutrition and Food Services
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and supervision of Nutritional and Food Services staff at both sites of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance
• Establish standards of service, policies and procedures to support the effective, efficient and safe completion of all food preparation, handling, delivery and cleaning processes.
• Interact with clinicians and dieticians as required to ensure patient dietary needs are met
• Interview, selection, hiring and evaluation of new staff
• Develop and facilitate training and orientation for staff, students, volunteers
• Accountable for department budget

Housekeeping
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and supervision of Housekeeping & Custodial Services staff at both sites of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance.
• Establish standards of service, policies and procedures to support the effective, efficient and safe completion of all cleaning, linen and waste management processes.
• Work in compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation, guidelines, standards, policies, procedures and practices.
• Interview, selection, hiring and evaluation of new staff
• Develop and facilitate training and orientation for staff, students and volunteers
• Accountable for department budget
