Perioperative Program

• Flexible 7.5 hour shifts and after hour availability
• Responsible for daily operation of OR/PACU/SDC/Preadmit Clinic/MDRD/Endoscopy
• Reporting to the VP Clinical Service/CNO

Qualifications and Experience:
• Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
• Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 12 months
• Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Baccalaureate degree; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years Perioperative leadership experience
• MDRD certification an asset
• Proven leadership skills as an innovative, strategic and health system visionary
• Excellent decision making which reflects sensitivity to financial, operating and human resource constraints
• Strong business acumen
• Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, problem solving, communication, change management and conflict resolution
• Demonstrated ability to lead sustainable quality improvements
• Sound knowledge of and ability to utilize LEAN and quality improvement strategies
• Committed to excellence in exceptional patient care and continual focus on quality improvement and results driven outcomes
• Ability to establish and foster collaborative partnerships and working relationships with staff, physicians, patients and the interdisciplinary health care team
• Demonstrated human resources management skills in a unionized environment required
• Strong commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
• Computer proficiency
• Excellent attendance record

• Coordination of patient care delivery and patient flow
• Ability to mentor, coach and act as resource for staff
• Performance appraisals, including ongoing regular feedback for staff
• Accountable for Perioperative budgets
• Recruitment and retention strategies with staff
• Provide leadership for and ensure alignment with MHA strategic priorities
• Implement and manage quality improvement, lean strategies and patient safety initiatives to ensure excellence in patient care and high levels of patient satisfaction
• Participate in the management of all patient care areas in conjunction with peers
• Ensure that clinical practices are evidence based best practice and consistent with current standards and regulations
• Model and promote the development of a motivated and a cohesive multi-disciplinary team
• Support educational strategies to enhance professional practice of team members
• Coordinate services in collaboration with the Chief of Surgery and Chief of Anesthesia
• Provide leadership for the development and implementation of wait time strategy initiatives, surgical efficiencies and strategic priorities
