Health Records Department

Job Duties

  • 0800-1600 Monday-Friday
  • Position available January 2013
  • Accurate and timely transcription of dictated medical reports in the established format
  • Answer telephone and handle requests as required
  • Accurate reporting of census statistics
  • Clerical duties related to Inpatients
  • Perform other duties as requested

Job Qualifications

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • Graduate of a Medical Transcriptionist  course with 3-4 years experience
  • Computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word Based Program
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and under pressure
  • Key boarding speed minimum of 60 w.p.m.
  • Ability to operate dictating/transcription equipment,  photocopier, fax machine and printer
  • Self-directed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with hospital and medical staff as well as the public
  • Extensive knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Demonstrated organization skills to work in a busy environment
  • Ability to recognize the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and efficiency
  • Demonstrated excellence in attendance
