The Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) is seeking a dynamic and charismatic Director HR and People to join its senior leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly qualified and motivated professional to assume a pivotal role in this highly respected organization.
The MHA is made up of two partner sites; Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) and Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH). FCHS is a modern primary acute care hospital located in the Village of Newbury, at the intersection of Lambton, Kent, Middlesex, and Elgin Counties (approximately halfway between London and Chatham). FCHS is located in a peaceful country setting with easy access to all major highways of Southwestern Ontario and Michigan. The facility provides 24 hour emergency and medical care as well as numerous diagnostic and ambulatory services. SMGH serves a population of approximately 35,000 residents and is located approximately 40 km west of the City of London. SMGH is a full service community hospital providing a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, diagnostic and ambulatory care services. MHA also provides HR leadership and support to South Huron Hospital Association (SHHA) in Exeter. SHHA serves a catchment area in excess of 19,000 clients, which includes the Municipality of South Huron and adjacent communities.

The Director HR and People will provide strategic leadership and direction, planning, organizational and general management for all aspects of HR services. You will also participate and/or lead various leadership and regional committees with external stakeholders and partners. You have a thorough understanding of the healthcare environment and possess broad experience with a full range of functions, systems and support, and allied health services, with the ability to forecast needs and secure new programming and related funding. You are an inspired servant leader and strategic thinker, with exceptional organizational abilities and a flair for fostering a culture of service excellence and cohesive human resources leadership. As a proven HR professional, you understand that excellence in service is delivered by engaged, empowered employees. You have a strong business acumen and comprehensive knowledge of human resources and organizational development. You have a track record of supporting leaders and their teams with creative, practical, evidence-based approaches to workforce planning, talent management, and labour and employee relations, delivered through a service-oriented HR department. You will also forge positive and resilient relationships with leaders, staff and volunteers.
As a visionary change manager you are able to articulate a bold direction and possess the collaborative skills and wherewithal to ensure effective HR systems are in place across the institution. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert known for his/her integrity, team building ability, motivational skills, and ability to integrate best practices from all facets of HR and Employee Relations, including labour relations, organizational development, compensation, training and development, recruitment and retention, performance management, HR systems, reporting and legislation, occupational health and safety, employee equity, and employee records and benefits.
As a workforce strategist, pragmatic leader, and culture champion, you will enhance performance through your leadership of the HR function and team in a successful and inspirational service business with people at its core.
As a member of the MHA’s leadership team reporting to the President & CEO, you will be a trusted partner to the President & CEO and will provide guidance and counsel to the senior leadership team in all HR and operational affairs; ensure the achievement of current and long-range goals and provide direction and guidance for all activities in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the CEO.
• Graduate degree in human resources or organizational development with minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a complex health care setting
• Formal human resources designation (CHRP) is considered an asset;
• Collaborative and visionary leader with a proven track record of inspiring people and mobilizing teams

• Ability to achieve organizational results by encouraging the contribution of others; a positive team player who leads by example; sets and communicates clear goals.
• Hands-on approach and a collaborative leader, with the ability to maneuver from big picture strategic thinking to the tactical implementation of human resource services;
• Current drivers license and vehicle.
